Because Sri Lanka's weather varies by region and season, the best time to visit really depends on which part of the island, and which activities, matter most to your trip.

East Coast Beaches

Hill Country

Nuwara Eliya, Ella and the surrounding tea country are pleasant most of the year thanks to cooler temperatures, though the clearest views and driest trails are generally from January to April.

Wildlife and National Parks

The dry season, roughly May to September in parks like Yala and Udawalawe, tends to concentrate wildlife around remaining water sources, improving the odds of good sightings, particularly for leopards and elephants.
